Does the system have surround sound at all?

• Yes.

Did we know that already, and/or is it officially supported?

• Yes, some games have the Dolby Surround logo on them.

What is your test setup?

• A PS2 using an optical cable.  Even though the PS1 did not have an optical port, this should not influence the results.  I am using an SCPH-30001 for US games and an SCPH-50000 for JP games.
